Remembering Barry Munro

BARRY MUNRO 1958-2017

Bocas del Toro morns the loss of a legendary figure: Mr. Barry Munro. However, much in tune with his vibrant spirit, his life was celebrated on a memorial aboard the Jade Dragon, April 29th. Barry touched the lives of many in his years in the archipelago: with his quick wit and sarcasm, his generosity and solidarity and of course: with his harmonica. Afternoons on the Jade Dragon and Sounds on Saturday live music jams at Lilli’s Cafe will never be forgotten.

Everyone agreed that the memorial cruise to Starfish Beach on the Jade Dragon was exactly what Barry would have wanted and it was well supported by loads of friends and his large and lovely family: his siblings from Canada, 6 children, 7 grandchildren and of course: his beloved Queen, (Lili, pictured above with Barry). Frieda put it best when she said that “People only die when they are forgotten,” so in that case: you Barry, my friend, shall never die.
