*Thanks to the community efforts of so many, Bocas is cleaning up! The garbage is regularly picked up, the recycling has taken off, and Federal government branch, MOP (Ministerio de Obras Publicas), is working harder than ever.
Don’t forget to place your recyclables in clear bags free pick up once a week. If you’d like to donate your time to driving the recycling truck or simply donate funds to the cause, please contact Robert Bezeau at 6949-3389.
*August 14- Longtime resident, Clyde Stephens, will present a special power point presentation entitled “LIVING OFF THE LAND ON AN ISLAND IN BOCAS DEL TORO”. Clyde has lived and worked in Bocas del Toro for many year. He has agreed to share his knowledge of the tropical fruits, vegetables, ornamentals medicinal and other such plants, as well as some of our area’s interacting fauna – knowledge gained through living on his property on Isla Solarte at Hospital Point and his work around the globe with bananas.
The program will start at 1:30 PM on Wednesday, August 14, 2013, and will be held in the Sala de Conferencia, Hotel Playa Tortuga. This 45 minute presentation is open to everyone interested in attending and will be followed by a question and answer session, English and/or Spanish. Please tell your friends as this is an opportunity to learn more about the Bocas area’s flora and fauna from the man who is generously willing to share his experiences with all of us.
*August 29- Art Walk in Bocas Town. Since the last Art Walk was such a success, shop owners have decided to do it again! Please contact Christin Drake, of Random Art, at 6627-5906 if you would like to participate. Check out The Bocas Breeze Facebook page for updates on exact locations. Please come out and help support our local artists.
