Editors Note & Letters to the Editor

This month a few people wrote me. Thank you for reading and writing! The Bocas Breeze always loves hearing from our readers and you can send your thoughts to editor@thebocasbreeze.com.

“I am visiting from Wales, UK and just read your editorial in the June edition. Wales was one of the first countries to introduce a compulsory plastic bag charge. The charge is 5 pence a bag – about 7cents, charged by the shop, and has resulted in massive behaviour* change. The money collected goes to good causes. It’s a great idea that works. Cheers, Jo”

There’s no doubt that charging for plastic bags would change people’s behavior* and result in less plastic bags. It’s definitely a policy to consider. Thank you for sharing Jo!
*Fans of spelling, history and cultural fun facts will know we are know we are both correct…

I’d also like to thank Jordan for writing us, who wrote in regards to August’s article on Homeopathy and raised a good point. I’d like to clarify that this is an entertaining community newspaper and not a Scientific Medical Journal. Also, I am in no way a medical professional. It may be helpful to you to consider homeopathic remedies or it may not; but I would like to suggest seeking 2nd and 3rd opinions and considering all your options before making any health related decisions.  The article can be found on www.thebocasbreeze.com and easiest with a Google search: “bocas breeze finca los monos”

Nicholas Corea is the owner and editor of the Bocas Breeze. He wasn't born in Bocas, but he got there as fast as he could. Just one of the many foreigners who became enamored with the enchantment of the islands, his mission is to share the majesty of Bocas del Toro with the world. Nicholas (aka Nick / Nico) has been known to love literature and live music concerts. Nothing makes him happier than when others are interested in this entertaining and informative community newspaper. Mr. Corea would like to send his gratitude to all who read and support the Bocas Breeze; for it takes a village to publish a community newspaper!
