The community gathered at the Hotel Bocas del Toro for an Italian Night benefiting the Casa de Asilo Bocas elderly home. A delicious spaghetti dinner was served by the Random Art cooking students. Santa Claus was in the house and many came out in great support for our Friends at Casa Asilo. Gracious donations even came from far and wide from Bocas lovers who couldn’t be in attendence to make the event. A special thanks to the Singer Foundation. When all said and done: $6,500 was raised!

Esther Brix, of team Cayuco Paunch is also a boxer and won her first match, in the first round, in Changuinola on December 17th.

Esther is a member of the Bocas Fight Gym and on the same day other members from the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu team Megaton brought home two wins, Josh Caraballo (absolute white) Carlos (absolute blue). Special thanks to Monica Born from Tesoro Escondido for her gracious donations that made it possible for Bocas native Jonathan (16 years old) to train at Bocas Fight Gym and compete.

Local artisans, surfers and yogis came together for the very first Surf and Yoga Festival at the Bocas Brewery Beach Bar, Leaf Eaters and Palmar Beach Lodge. Stay tuned to their Facebook page “Surf & Yoga Festival” for upcoming events.

An Old Bank, Bastimentos Christmas. Honorable Representative Ashburn Dixon, Mayor Martin Downer and the Bastimentos community provided 320 gifts to children ages 2 to 10 on December 18th.

Isla Colon played host to Bocas Fest on 3rd street where people got together to groove sweet Calypso and Reggae music featuring such acts as I-Nesta, Los Mixtos de Bastimentos, Malibu, Istmical Roots, Llevarte a Marte, Septima Raiz and more.
