Skyway Airlines is Bocas’ new way to get to Costa Rica within minutes of the Bocas del Toro International Airport on Isla Colon. Skyway is a Costa Rican airline that began in 2017 and Bocas is its first international destination.

The Bocas Breeze had some business to take care of in San José, Costa Rica this January, and we didn’t have much time for travel. With a daily one-hour flight, five days a
week, Skyway seemed to be the perfect choice. Plus, we were curious to know who they were and how their operations were going! The company is their running one-hour flights to San José at 2:50pm Thursday through Monday. The Skyway Airlines service desk is located in an airport office just next to the Punta Caracol office with a blue Skyway banner outside the door. Edilberto greeted us with a smile and checked us in within minutes. He gave us clear instructions regarding immigration and security and soon we were aboard the 19 passenger LET L-410; a small yet sturdy plane that was designed to withstand extreme conditions and capable of landing on short and unpaved runways. We boarded the plane excited to be landing in Costa Rica in 45 minutes! In our curiosity of this new company, we poked around to check out the plane. We were happy to see that the Passenger Briefing Card which tells you about safety and evacuation also has a dated stamp and signature of the last vessel inspection. This gave us an extra layer of security as we took off on this new venture. There was plenty of wind and rain throughout the ride but our captain maneuvered the plane well in the inclement weather. As soon as we landed in Juan Santamaria Airport, a shuttle was there on the tarmac to pick us up and we were quickly at the airport entrance.
Our return flight was just as easy and streamlined as the departing flight. The agents were

friendly and helpful with us throughout our whole experience and never had to wait too long. Though this is a new airline, they have an organized operation and a good team. The Bocas Breeze definitely recommend Skyway Airlines to anyone wanting to fly between Bocas and San José! It’s also important to mention that there are competitive international flights flying into San José everyday from many hubs all over the globe. So if you are traveling to Bocas del Toro internationally, definitely consider the option of flying into Costa Rica to make your connection straight to Bocas del Toro from San José with Skyway.

Nosotros viajamos con Skyway
La Aerolínea Skyway es la nueva forma de Bocas para llegar a Costa Rica en unos minutos desde el Aeropuerto Internacional de Bocas del Toro en Isla Colón. Skyway es una aerolínea Costarricense que empezó en el 2017 y Bocas es su primer destino internacional.

El Bocas Breeze tenía que encargarse de algunos negocios en San José, Costa Rica durante este mes de enero y no teníamos mucho tiempo para viajar. Con un vuelo diario de una hora, cinco días a la semana, Skyway parecía ser la opción perfecta. ¡Además, teníamos la curiosidad de saber quiénes eran y cómo eran sus operaciones! La compañía ofrece vuelos de una hora a San José a las 2:50pm. de jueves a lunes. El centro de asistencia de Skyway Airlines está ubicado en una oficina del aeropuerto justo al lado de la de Punta Caracol con un banner Skyway de color azul en su puerta. Cuando llegamos, Edilberto nos saludó con una sonrisa y nos registró en unos minutos. Nos dio instrucciones claras sobre inmigración y seguridad y después de eso estábamos a bordo del LET L-410 de 19 pasajeros; un avión pequeño pero fuerte que fue diseñado para soportar condiciones extremas y que es capaz de aterrizar en pistas cortas y sin pavimento. ¡Abordamos el avión y estábamos emocionados de poder aterrizar en Costa Rica en una hora! En nuestra curiosidad sobre esta nueva compañía, exploramos en los alrededores para conocer más detalles sobre el avión. Estábamos felices de ver que la tarjeta de información para los pasajeros tenía un sello con fecha y una firma de la última inspección hecha del avión. Esto nos daba una capa adicional de seguridad al despegar hacia esta nueva aventura. Había una gran cantidad de viento y lluvia en el camino, pero nuestro capitán maniobró el avión muy bien en ese clima inclemente. Tan pronto aterrizamos en el Aeropuerto Juan Santamaría, había un autobús sobre el asfalto para recogernos y rápidamente estábamos en la entrada del aeropuerto.

Nuestro vuelo de regreso fue igual de aerodinámico como el vuelo de partida. Los agentes fueron amistosos, nos ayudaron durante toda de nuestra experiencia y nunca tuvimos que esperar mucho. Aunque esta sea una aerolínea nueva, tiene una operación organizada y un buen equipo. ¡El Bocas Breeze definitivamente recomienda Skyway Airlines a cualquiera que desea volar entre Bocas y San José! También es importante mencionar que hay muchos vuelos internacionales competitivos que llegan a San José todos los días de muchas partes del mundo. Así que, si usted está viajando a Bocas del Toro internacionalmente, definitivamente considere la opción de volar a Costa Rica para hacer una escala directo a Bocas del Toro desde San José con Skyway.
