Musicians dream of being able to take that song that they poured their heart out into and share it with the world with the highest quality of sound and video. On November 3rd, six bands will be given this opportunity when they compete to win 40 hours of sound, video, mixing and editing time in the PirateArts Experience Studio on Isla Carenero located at the Lost Boys Blues Bar.

The music contest has been dubbed Guitarmageddon. Though it will take place during the 2nd Annual Rocktoberfest, a 3-day event celebrating rock ‘n’ roll, all musical styles are encouraged to participate; rock, reggae, salsa, calypso, jazz, blues, everything goes. “The idea is to support, promote and enrich the musical and cultural scene in Bocas del Toro,” says creative director Eric Veenstra. Support for the musical scene is definitely happening with $5,000 worth of cash and prizes to be awarded to the musicians from crowd response and scores from a panel of judges. The inaugural Rocktoberfest took place at this same time last year and featured ten Bocas del Toro acts; including Veenstra’s own house band The Lost Boys Blues. The 2018 event benefited the Dr. Jose “Pasito”Anderson Banda de Música, the high school marching band from the Colegio Rogelio Josue Ibarra. With $1,000 raised from the event, the marching band was able to repair instruments, purchase new uniforms and batons and even procure new brass instruments to expand their marching band and offer the experience to even more students. This year the Bocas Brewery has a partnership with the Lost Boys Blues Bar to contribute to the fundraising for the school band by selling their locally brewed beer during the 3-day event; giving all proceeds to the high school music program.

The 2nd Annual Rocktoberfest kicks off on the night of October 31st. Halloween on the Dark Side will be a costume party featuring the iconic 1973 Pink Floyd album Dark Side of the Moon played along with many more with Pink Floyd classics and it will be performed by the Lost Boys Blues. The night rocks on with an “out-of-this-world” lighting and multimedia visual spectacle. The night will conclude with international funk-rockers, Juicy Cake, lighting up the dance floor with their ultra boogie-down anthems. The headlining act for November 1st will be Bocas’ Caribbean Latin Rock sensation Chicha Fuerte with Lost Boys Blues opening the night performing original numbers, as well as favorites from The Beatles, Led Zeppelin and the Blues Brothers movies. November 3rd is the all-day affair, beginning at 2pm with a matinee showing of the Pink Floyd Experience for families and all of our outer island boating friends. Children’s games will be sponsored by PirateArts Experience out on the resort playground. The festival will conclude with Guitarmageddon Battle of the Bands-style music contest, which starts at 6pm and will feature 6 bands. Each band will take home at least $100 cash prize, but who will be “the last band standing” at Guitarmageddon?

2ndo Rocktoberfest Annual Otorgará $5,000 en Efectivo y Premios Para Los Músicos
Los músicos sueñan en poder llevar esa canción que hicieron con el corazón y compartirla con el mundo usando la mejor calidad de sonido y video. Se le ha dado el nombre Guitarmageddon al concurso musical. El Rocktoberfest inaugural se dio durante el mismo tiempo el año pasado y dio 10 presentaciones de Bocas del Toro que incluía la banda local de Veenstra The Lost Boys Blues. El evento del 2018 benefició a la Banda de Musica Dr. Jose “Pasito” Anderson, la banda de marcha del Colegio Rogelio Josué Ibarra. Con un total de $1,000 recaudados del evento, la banda de marcha pudo reparar sus instrumentos, comprar nuevos uniformes y batutas y hasta pudieron procurar nuevos y brillantes instrumentos de vientos para de esta manera expandir su banda de marcha, al poder ofrecerle la experiencia a aún más estudiantes. Este año el Bocas Brewery ha confirmado el patrocinio de Lost Boys Blues Bar para continuar con este evento de recaudar fondos a beneficio de la banda escolar. El Bocas Brewery que ofrece cerveza artesanal hecha localmente estará disponible en el evento de 3 días y la cerveza que se venda irá a beneficio del programa musical de la escuela secundaria.

El 2ndo Rocktoberfest Anual empieza la noche del 31 de octubre: Halloween on the Dark Side, una fiesta de disfraces que presenta al icónico álbum de 1973 de Pink Floyd “Dark Side of the Moon” y será presentado por el Lost Boys Blues. La presentación principal del 1ero de noviembre no será otra más que la sensación de Rock Latino Caribeño Chicha Fuerte y The Lost Boys Blues quienes serán los primeros del evento presentando sus temas originales, al igual que temas favoritos de The Beatles, Led Zeppelin y las películas de los Blues Brothers. El 3 de noviembre es el evento que durará todo el día, empezando a las 2pm con un show matiné de Pink Floyd Experience para familias y todos nuestros amigos boteros de las otras islas. Habrá juegos para niños patrocinados por PirateArts Experience en el área de juegos del centro turístico. El festival concluirá con el concurso musical Guitarmageddon Battle of the Bands-style, el cual empieza a las 6 pm y presentará a 6 bandas.
