Bocas Recycle Center is the island's grass-roots, community-led recycling center. The project is made possible by local NGO Unidos Por Bocas, with collaboration from the business community and generous Bocas residents who care deeply about waste management in Bocas del Toro. The Center currently accepts glass, five types of plastic, aluminium cans, cardboard and Tetrapak cartons. The plastic items that are accepted are numbers 1 2 4 5 and 6; no styrofoam or PVC.

Make sure you build with the ECO PAVER, which is made from recycled glass, sand, gravel and cement. The Eco Paver is the star product of the Bocas Recycle Center: a "recycled glass pedestrian paver" ideal for garden footpaths, firepits, pool decks, and concrete patios. They come in gray, blue, green, yellow and red.

Since 2023, Bocas Recycle Center started collecting recyclables from residents and businesses as part of their subscription program. You can participate for $30/month for a weekly collection, $20 twice a month, or $3 per individual bag.
