Carnaval is a much-anticipated date on the Bocas del Toro event calendar. Held in the week leading up to Lent, the island is filled with national and international visitors. The Municipal Government usually puts a stage and concession stands set up near the park and it turns into a big street party with music, parades and a big celebration.  "Culeco" tankers spray kids with water in the Bocas Town center by day and into the night there are parties all over the island.
