Josefina Goes to England

Josefina Grenald, also known as “Speedy”, has been working with Katherine at Ultimo Refugio since day one (10 years now!) and by day, she is also a school teacher on Bastimentos.  Josefina recently won a scholarship through MEDUCA and is currently representing Bocas del Toro in England while studying English at the University of Leeds.

Josefina left in the middle of May and is slated for a mid-July return. She’s living with a host family and they are all very nice. Josefina even on a weekend trip to Norway to visit her niece who is also from Bocas and married to a Norwegian.

“She complains only of the cold and misses her family and Ultimo Refugio (of course),” says her boss Katherine, who was able to contact the busy University of Leeds scholar for a quick Whatsapp interview. Her son Licho, who also works at Refugio, and the whole gang down at the restaurant also miss her in the kitchen but really they are very, very proud of their sweet Speedy.  And so is the Bocas Breeze: Congratulations Josefina!
