UPDATE: Team Cayuco Paunch Places 3rd in the CREBA Ocean-to-Ocean Race

In April’s edition, the Breeze did a profile on Bocas del Toro’s very first Cayuco team. What a very successful first season it was! When the ladies of Cayuco Paunch first formed their team, they started to practice without even having a boat, finally found their cayuco (canoe), trained long hours (sometimes in 10 foot swells), came within a minute of setting a course record in Playa Veracruz and placed 3rd overall in the world famous 3-day Ocean-to-Ocean Cayuco race.
The Bocas Breeze salutes these ladies on their hard work, dedication and accomplishments. The team is still undergoing fund raising efforts in order to purchase their own boat and begin a paddling club right here in Bocas del Toro. They are visionaries with big plans of Bocas del Toro holding its very own Cayuco competitions. You can donate to the cause here: https://www.gofundme.com/cayucopaunch

Team Cayuco Paunch is (pictured left to right): Angie Whittemore Correa (pacer), Julie Lanouette (bailer), Esther Brix (power) and Carolina Botero Salazar (team captain and steer). Congratulations ladies!
