The National Police held their 3rd annual children’s Christmas party on December 20th. As many as 150 youths from the Bahia Roja, Bahia Honda, Bluff, Saigon and Bastimentos communities gathered at the police station for music, games, gifts and treats. Sargent Martin Sanchez is grateful for the support of the community, which was greater than ever this year. Special thanks to Darla Tomas, Alejandro Tello, Penny Tom, Bob Larson, Marjon Mos and Soli Rodriguez.
Feliz Verano
It’s summer time in Panama which means no school for the young ones. Some kids get bored easily and soon find themselves getting into trouble. To give the kids something constructive to do, the police have come up with a summer program which they call “Feliz Verano” (Happy Summer). Every other day during the school break (January and February), the police and volunteers hold day camps. Each day has a different theme; sports, art, etc. If you’d like to help, please donate water, snacks or your time. They are accepting any and all volunteers to do activities with the kids.
New ATV for the Police
In the past, the Flying Pirates donated the use of as many as three All-Terrain Vehicles (quads) to the National Police in an effort to patrol the islands. The Flying Pirates, along with some residents and businesses of Bluff Beach, have collaborated and purchased the Bocas police force their very own ATV. Now the police are better equipped to protect and serve; on and off the road.
