Isla Colon’s new pump stations are working!

🇵🇦 Español a continuación 🇵🇦

It’s been 19 days since Bocas Town streets were last flooded with heavy rainfall, and since then, two developments:

On May 21, 2026 the north station pump house was tested. This is located on the corner of Avenida Norte and Calle 6a, just past Bocas Docks.

On May 29, 2026 the south station pump house was documented in action on a day with spurts of heavy rainfall. This is located on the corner of Avenida Sur and Calle 6, near the old Planta Electrica.

As for the north pump station on May 29 during the rainfall, one witness at JJs Restaurant remembers hearing a generator turn on that seemed to be coming from the nearby pump house, so it *sounds* like they were both on-line.

May 29 was the same day as the Etnia Negra parade, if you remember. It was pretty rainy, but perhaps not the level of rainfall that flooded structures on May 19, 2026.

Only time will tell, but so far so good 👍🏻👍🏻
